Abstract: |
Archaeological evaluation of two areas to the south-west of the village of Aldwark was carried out in advance of a planning application for an extension of quarrying activities. The two extension areas had been the subject of comprehensive geophysical survey in 2004. The results, which included a variety of potential areas of archaeological significance, were considered along with a review of the known archaeology of the areas and their immediate vicinity in a desk-based assessment completed in the same year.
