Abstract: |
The archaeological evaluation comprised geophysical survey and trail trenching. The geophysical survey identified a few linear anomalies and several weak linear trends that may have been archaeological. The trial trenches uncovered a sequence of three archaeological features; one linear feature and two irregular shaped features. From the nature of the fills the whole sequence was interpreted as post-medieval or recent. Some unstratified Neolithic or Bronze Age worked flints were recovered. The results suggested that there was unlikely to be further evidence of barrows within the development site, although smaller more discrete funerary features, such as urns, may have survived.
