Abstract: |
A desk top study of a proposed residential development site was undertaken. Palaeolithic flints, bronze age peat deposits and undated prehistoric activity had been recorded in the surrounding area, and two Roman coin hoards had been found. The site lay immediately to the west of the former location of post-medieval Howland Manor House. It was concluded that the site lay within an area of high archaeological potential, and that an evaluation should be carried out to ascertain the degree of previous ground disturbance. [AIP] |
