Abstract: |
An archaeological watching brief was carried out. The site lay within an area of archaeological sensitivity, including the Pons Aelius Roman Fort, an Anglo-Saxon cemetery, the medieval remains of the keep and bailey wall and possible post-medieval remains. No archaeological deposits were seen during the majority of the watching brief as the duct trench remained within the existing water trench. Outside the water service trench there was a lot of disruption by other services, but to the south-east there were remains of a post-medieval foundation, possibly a wall. [Au(adp)] |
