Abstract: |
The site lay beyond the Saxon and medieval town and outside the area of Trowbridge Castle. It was situated in an area that historic maps suggested was undeveloped until post-1814 industrialisation associated with the woollen industry. An archaeological evaluation had previously been carried out on the site revealing 19th century and later deposits, directly overlying natural subsoil. No pre-modern features or finds were recorded.
