Abstract: |
A watching brief was carried out in the churchyard of St Peter's Church during the excavation of a trench for the foundations of a York stone memorial. The line of the former wall could be seen as a scarp running towards the church. Five fragments of medieval floor tiles were recovered from the spoil. The only extant area of tiled flooring in the church lay at the east end of the chapel. The majority of these were very worn and decoration could only be discerned on a single tile, close to the north wall. [Au(abr)] |
