Abstract: |
A short earthwork survey was undertaken across portions of the Scheduled Ancient Monument of Dagnam Park Moat. The moat had the typical square circuit of a manorial moat with perimeter-upcast bank, with a single drain leading out from the north-eastern corner and a land causeway entering from the south. Through the capturing of moat profiles, estimates of sediment build up could be calculated which in turn would allow the magnitude of any scouring operation to be judged. The profiles would also provided an indication of the monument's surviving extent, including as they did the external upcast bank. [Au] |
