Abstract: |
A total of twelve evaluation trenches were excavated and any potential archaeological features were excavated. The evaluation demonstrated the presence of archaeological remains in nine of the excavated trenches. From these the remnants of hitherto unknown building foundations, paved surfaces and other structural components were identified, which were dated to the 13th-14th centuries. From one trench, evidence of at least four phases of building activity were uncovered. One of the trenches in the 'Refectory' produced evidence for an earlier timber structure on the site.
