Abstract: |
Evaluation was undertaken on a site proposed for a housing development which was believed to be situated along the course of the Roman road leading into Doncaster from the west. Geophysical survey identified an area of higher resistivity which was further investigated by trenching. Small shallow features associated with the recent use of the area as allotments were revealed. The geophysical anomalies were shown to be the result of the presence of patches of subsoil containing a greater density of river gravel. [AIP] |
