Abstract: |
An archaeological watching brief was carried out during groundworks for a building extension. The Old House Hotel was 18th century in date at the north end of the former market square in of the former medieval market town of Wickham. Excavation for the work, in the an area of old garden, failed to recover any significant archaeological features or residual finds dating from about before 1760. The only feature seen was a modern ceramic pipe leading to a modern soakaway. The area was a distance from the street and this most likely explained the lack of residual medieval pottery. [Au(adp] |
