Abstract: |
A watching brief was carried out during the excavation of a cable trench, and sockets for replacement poles for overhead electricity cables, at two locations. The cable trench was located in an area of extensive prehistoric activity, with ten barrows lying within 300m of the route. At Up Sydling, prehistoric and medieval earthworks and two barrows lay in the vicinity of the cable route. During the watching brief, a possible buried soil or palaeosol of potential archaeological significance was identified, but no features or artefacts were revealed. [Au(adp)] |
