Abstract: |
An evaluation, comprising geophysical survey and the excavation of two trial trenches, was undertaken on land proposed for new housing on the northern edge of the village of Thurvaston. The results of the geophysical survey were disappointing. Trial trenching however revealed features including a post-hole, L-shaped gulley and hearth which may have been associated with a timber structure of medieval date; further features associated with a medieval structure; and a bank and ditch of medieval date which probably marked the boundary of a toft.
