Abstract: |
An archaeological evaluation was undertaken, revealing areas of metalled surfacing and associated revetment wall or wall footing. These may have represented a track, yard, or possibly a small agricultural shelter or store. Artefactual evidence suggested that this dated from the 17th to 18th century but that it had had fallen out of use by the mid/late 19th century. Although of some local interest, these deposits were not considered to be of archaeological significance. A single sherd of medieval pottery recovered, however, did not shed any light on the nature of activity of this date in the area. The dating and character of a series of slight earthwork features lying to the immediate north and west of the evaluated site had not been determined. [Au(abr)] |
