Abstract: |
An area was excavated that exposed a brick surface, possibly a "half-cellar" floor laid when the property was redeveloped in the 1660s. Below this was a substantial wall foundation which may have been part of Sir John Lister's late 16th century house, the predecessor of the building. A barrel-vaulted brick culvert, probably of late 18th or early 19th century date was also located. [Au(adp)] |
