Abstract: |
An archaeological assessment was undertaken on the site of a proposed redevelopment. The site was identified as being within the outer precinct of Spalding Priory. Part of the inner precinct wall was identified as formerly crossing the site. The assessment identified that a 19th century church hall and late 20th century buildings occupied the site and a 19th century foundry formerly occupied part of the site. The assessment also identified that groundwork may have potentially impacted Roman and Saxon remains. However these remains would have lay below successive flood deposits. [Au(abr)] |
