Abstract: |
Four trenches, c. 12m x 3m, and five 2m x 2m test-pits were dug to evaluate the archaeological resource at Springvale Way prior to the replacement of two retail warehouses by a single one. The four trenches and one of the test-pits were in an area terraced during the construction of one of the standing buildings, which had resulted in the truncation of all archaeological deposits. The other test-pits produced loamy agricultural soils over natural gravels; the only artefacts found in them were modern, suggesting that they had been disturbed in recent times. [Au] |
