Abstract: |
An evaluation was carried out at the proposed site of a retail complex within an Archaeological Priority Zone. Settlement in the area had been documented since AD 814. Finds dating from the palaeolithic to the late iron age had been recorded, and evidence of sporadic Roman occupation had been found. During the evaluation, ditches, ploughsoil and pits containing post-medieval pottery fragments were revealed, and an undated post hole was recorded. [AIP] |
