Abstract: |
A series of archaeological investigations were undertaken as part of a programme of pre-construction mitigation in connection with a proposed new tank road around the southern edge of the Salisbury Plain Training Area. The work followed on from assessment of the results of a comprehensive evaluation of the proposed road route, and comprised further evaluation, archaeological excavation and earthwork survey. Investigation was undertaken at east of Quebec Barn, east of Knook Castle, Tilshead Down, south-east of Battlesbury Wood, Boreham Farm Bungalow, Willis's Field Barn, Horse Down, south of Foxtrot Crossing, east of Battlesbury Bowl, West Hill Farm and west of Hotel Crossing.
