Abstract: |
An archaeological evaluation was carried out at the site of a proposed new visitor centre at Wakehurst Place. Initial trial trenching revealed two cut features: a modern ditch containing brick and plastic, and an undated shallow linear feature. Landscaping and the excavation of service trenches on the site over the last 200 years, as well as tree felling, root bowl removal and the movement from construction traffice has caused extensive disturbance.
