Abstract: |
The evaluation revealed a thick layer of ploughed soil representing agricultural land use during the post-medieval (and possibly medieval) period. This ploughsoil was capped by a layer of garden soil that was associated with numerous deep cut features (including a possible well, a possible cesspit and modern terracotta service pipes) and a garden wall. All these features were associated with the site occupation by terraced houses that fronted Tamworth Place from the 1840''s to the 1950's. No archaeological finds or features were located.
