Abstract: |
A desk-based assessment of a proposed redevelopment site was carried out. Isolated finds of Neolithic to Iron Age date had been recorded within 500m of the site. Roman and occasionally Saxon sites and finds had been excavated or observed in the near vicinity. Roman Watling Street ran parallel to the northern edge of the Faraday Buildings, and parts of the Roman wall had been recorded along the line of Knightrider Street. The area had been developed since the 13th century. It was noted that several areas of high potential on the site coincided with areas in which survival of deposits was also likely to be high, and an evaluation was recommended.[AIP] |
