Abstract: |
The evaluation trench revealed a surviving medieval ground surface that was completely undisturbed by any post-medieval or modern truncation. Pits, ditches and post-holes cutting into this ground surface were observed. These features dated from the 12th to the 16th century. The ditches and post holes appeared to delineate a constantly-reinstated boundary, possibly dividing the rear of properties fronting onto Bethel Street and St. Giles Street. [Au] |
