Abstract: |
A archaeological evaluation by trial excavation found a small number of residual sherds of Roman pottery recovered from trenches in both sites of the site, providing the earliest evidence of occupation, though no Romano-British features were discovered in the small areas examined- a large pit containing Roman ceramic building material had, however, been discovered in the Highways Depot years previously. Evidence of medieval occupation was more apparent with gullies and two post holes recorded. On the east site, a single pit that contained medieval pottery was recorded as was a scatter of medieval tile material. [Au(abr)] |
