Abstract: |
A desk-based assessment was undertaken for a plot of land proposed for 'drive-thru' restaurant and associated car valeting building and customer car park. Earlier evaluation work in the area had suggested that early medieval settlement evidence could be anticipated in the north-eastern portion of the proposed development area. In addition, post-medieval buildings were indicated on early maps, fronting onto both St John's Street and Sheene Road. Late 19th and early 20th century developments, including several rows of terrace housing and a large tramway depot were identified as being likely to have caused extensive disturbance for 75-80% of the proposal area.
