Abstract: |
The site was located at the northern edge of the extensive mid Saxon settlement of Lundenwic. The primary intention of the evaluation was to establish the presence or absence of Saxon deposits and to determine the nature of any such activity, in particular whether the site formed part of the settlement area or was within an area of agricultural activity. A single linear feature was revealed and was dated to the 17th/18th century. A small quantity of clay pipe and pottery, datable to the 17th-19th centuries were recovered. No Saxon remains were encountered. [Au(adp)] |
