Abstract: |
A desk-based assessment was undertaken of the archaeological impact of proposed for development on five areas situated east of the town of Witney. The assessment revealed that archaeological remains were not known within the assessment area. The land was an area of archaeological importance and a large number of archaeological sites were situated in the surrounding area. This was reflected through the designation of parts of the site, by Oxfordshire County as Archaeological Constraint Areas. In view of this archaeological sensitivity it was recommended that a limited programme of non-destructive archaeological evaluation should be undertaken, in order to provide additional information about any archaeological remains within the area.
