Abstract: |
Archaeological evaluation recorded evidence for medieval settlement activity including a pit and a gully that produced 13th/14th century pottery. These features along with an undated pit and the remnants of a pebble yard surface were sealed by a cultivation layer of later medieval or early post-medieval date, indicative of the site's return to agriculture. Later features of 19th-20th century date associated with a former row of cottages and the present retail units, including service trenches, possible foundation trenches and a garden soil were also recorded.
