Abstract: |
Archaeological monitoring was carried out prior to indented alterations of floor levels at the visitor centre and two test pits were excavated within the church. Test pit one was located towards the south-west of the foyer of the visitor centre and test pit two within an office centrally within the chancel. The present floor level in the nave was lower than that of the chancel, the test pits suggested that the earlier formation involved a shallow step up from the nave to the chancel (indicated in test pit one) and further east, a higher step up within the chancel (indicated in test pit two).
