Abstract: |
Seven archaeological test pits were excavated in advance of proposed redevelopment as a hotel and restaurant complex. The test pits were machine excavated under archaeological supervision, four along the eastern half of the site, and three along the western half of the site. The test pits did not reveal any archaeological deposits or structures pre-dating the 19th century. Deep layers of made ground lay over a grey natural gravel deposit, with no brickearth deposits surviving on the site. [Au(adp)] |
