Abstract: |
An evaluation was carried out at a site proposed for housing development. Isolated Palaeolithic and Mesolithic finds were known from the surrounding area. Saxon and medieval settlement had been recorded nearby. Six trenches were excavated and a series of large shallow pits, probably early 19th century brickearth quarries, was recorded. Two residual sherds of medieval pottery were recovered, and post-medieval pottery was also present. It was concluded that no further work would be necessary.[AIP] |
