Abstract: |
A watching brief was carried out during groundworks for a warehouse development at a site where previous evaluation had revealed pits, post-holes and ditches of possible prehistoric date, as well as several post-medieval features. During the watching brief, a series of five 18th-19th century boundary or roadside drainage ditches were recorded. A ditch which appeared to have been a continuation of a Bronze Age field ditch excavated at a neighbouring site was also found, and a post-medieval pit and a short section of a further ditch were observed. Much of the site had been truncated by building foundations dating to the late 19th and early 20th centuries. [Au(adp)] |
