Abstract: |
An archaeological observation was carried out in February - March 1994 of the excavation of the foundation trenches for a new Arts Block. This was intended to locate any pits, outbuildings or other remains on the site at the rear of the medieval tenement fronting onto Church Street currently occupied by the Windmill Inn. Though a number of pits were recorded, the earliest dated to the 17th century and no medieval material was collected. Other features were of 19th and 20th century date.[AIP] |
