Abstract:
An evaluation was carried out at a former allotment site. Traces of prehistoric settlement had been recorded throughout the surrounding area. Eight trenches were excavated, and several shallow pits or gullies were revealed. These contained fragments of Roman tile, probable Anglo-Saxon pottery and burnt and knapped flints. It was concluded that Saxon settlement may have lain to the south. No recommendations were made concerning further work.[AIP]
