Abstract: |
The excavation of a 2m by 2m hole for the construction of a spiral staircase was observed. The site lay 1m to the west of a medieval cellar and house on the street frontage, within a 19th century extension to the building. It was found that the extension had been re-floored with a suspended timber floor, the construction of which had involved the removal of any archaeological deposits which may once have been present.
