Abstract: |
The evaluation revealed several arcaheological features including a probable Neolithic long barrow and two Bronze Age ring ditches, likely to be the remains of round barrows. The evaluation confirmed cropmark evidence shown on aerial photographs taken in 1993. A Bronze Age water hole and two linear features of similar date were also revealed. Two incomplete vessels of Beaker pottery and charred plant remains were discovered to the south of the ring ditch. The long barrow became one of the earliest monuments sited around Abingdon.
