Abstract: |
As an indirect consequence of the dumping of spoil from the Bishop's fishpond and a visit to his private garden, parch-marks were noted in his lawn. They were drawn and photographed. The main feature was a building with an apse, further walls could be identified less clearly. They all appeared to relate to Roman buildings. In the early 18th century, when the palace was refurbished, a mosaic was reported in the general area. [Au(adp)] |
