Abstract: |
An archaeological survey was carried out on the caves during redevelopment of the site. The current entrance to the caves was identified as being cut in the 19th century and an earlier access was identified in the north west corner of cave 4. Cave 2 and 4 were identified as being blocked prior to the Victorian period. Cave and 6 and 7 were identified as originally being one cave, with a brick wall being inserted in the 19th century. Undated divisions were identified between cave 5 and 6. [Au(abr)] |
