Abstract: |
The archaeological implications of amended route options for the proposed A46 Shurdington Bypass were assessed. Amended route A was found to transect a large field which was archaeologically sterile due to quarrying in the 1960's, whilst route D was found to cross areas of ridge and furrow and an area where field names suggested the former presence of an earthwork. On land adjacent to route D a cropmark site, indicating the presence of late prehistoric or Romano-British occupation, was identified. [AIP] |
