Abstract: |
The pipline route passed through an area in which little or no archaeological recording had been undertaken. Both villages appeared to have their origins in the early medieval period and deposits of this date may have been exposed during the excavation of the pipeline trench. The chance find of Roman coins from Bickleigh and the presence of a tumulus also suggested human activity across the area from at least the late Neolithic period.[Au(abr)] |
