Abstract: |
Archaeological recording of an electricity cable trench was carried out. The trench was excavated across a terrace which had been interpreted as the surviving remains of the Beachley Peninsular section of Offa's Dyke, a linear earthwork thought to have been constructed in the 8th century AD. Reddish clay deposits with a bank-like profile consistent with profiles of the monument throughout Gloucestershire were recorded. An accumulation of colluvium against the inner face of the original bank and modern deposits related to the construction of nearby houses were also noted. [AIP] |
