Abstract: |
A survey was carried out for Channel 4's "Time Team". Gradiometer, resistance and magnetometer surveys attempted to locate the line of the Roman road, possible bridge abutments and other signs of Roman occupation. Magnetometry identified a few low-level anomalies. Resistance was thought to have detected the line of the road as seen as a slight linear anomaly. The GPR revealed the road in section, showing that the surface originally dropped down to the riverside. No bridge abutments were encountered. A complex of curvilinear features and linear features forming an enclosure and some associated features was located on the opposite bank of the river. [Au(abr)] |
