Abstract:
Eighteen machine-dug trenches were excavated to evaluate land proposed for development. The natural gravel of the area was found to have widespread surface variations comprising pockets of sand and silt. A spring line was identified in the centre of the area which corresponded to the position of possible quarrying identified from aerial photographs. Linear features were encountered, but were found to represent field boundaries of recent date. [Au]
