Abstract: |
Archaeological monitoring and recording was undertaken during groundworks associated with the redevelopment of Shortgrove Hall. No archaeological features or finds were found, but small-scale elements of the previous buildings on the site were recovered. These included an elaborate brick drainage culvert of the former 19th century building. In addition, the site contained the remains of the vaulted brick cellars of the 17th century predecessor, largely infilled with brick rubble prior to the construction of a house on the site in 1984. Elements of these cellars were being incorporated into the new house currently under construction. [Au(abr)] |
