Abstract: |
A limited documentary search was undertaken at Hurley Hall at the instruction of the owner. The purpose of the survey was to investigate possible garden features in a sloping field to the south of Hall and adjoining the property. Evidence was found to confirm that the area was formerly a garden with a driveway entering the grounds at the top of the hill from a former roadway. Fishponds to the east of the Hall were the remains of a moat. A summerhouse was located in the same area. The purpose of a building adjacent to the driveway could not b confirmed and may not have been contemporary with the gardens. [Au(abr)] |
