Abstract: |
A gradiometer survey was carried out in advance of a proposed extension to the limestone quarry south-west of Cockermouth. Linear anomalies were indicative of a ridge and furrow system and numerous 'iron spike' anomalies near the centre of the site could have been ploughed archaeological artefacts. The presence of numerous patches of nettles in the same broad area could have suggested a more recent origin. [Au(adp)] |
