Abstract: |
An archaeological watching brief was undertaken during groundworks associated with the erection of a single storey workshop. Monitoring of the backfilled foundation trenches revealed deposits relating to the use of the area as a stonemasons workshop yard during the 19th century. Potential archaeological deposits lay below the level of the backfilled trenches. Pottery artefacts dating to the 19th century were noted in the trenches, however, none of these were retained.
