The evaluation, followed by a watching brief, successfully demonstrated the presence of continual human activity from the 12th century onwards: Phase 1: alluvium/boulder clays (pre-occupation); Phase 2: primary boundaries, ground raising dumps and pits (early 12th-13th cent); Phase 3: primary buildings (including a jetty), ground raising dumps (14th-17th century); Phase 4: post-medieval boundary structures and dumps (18th century); Phase 5: levelling dumps and industrial activity (19th century); Phase 6: modern levelling and structures.
