Abstract:
An evaluation prior to residential development found no evidence of medieval occupation on the site itself. A layer of clay contained early medieval pottery and may have represented rubbish deposits or an attempt to reclaim the land which may well have been prone to flooding. A hiatus in deposits for the later medieval period may reflect the decline in Wilton's importance.[AIP]
