Abstract:		 An archaeological assessment was prepared as part of a wider environmental assessment for proposed development within the Northern Development Area, City of Newcastle. The assessment provided historical and archaeological information for the application area and its environs providing a context for its development from prehistoric times through to the modern day. Impacts the development would have on these components of the historic landscape were suggested; and a series of recommendations either to enhance the understanding of their nature and allow an informed planning decision, or for mitigation works should the application be accepted.
