Abstract: |
An archaeological evaluation consisting of eight trial trenches was undertaken in advance of a proposed development. Part of the site had been previously subject to a geophysical survey which identified possible archaeological features. The only archaeological features recorded, however, were of a relatively recent date and related to former agricultural use of the site. This included a field boundary, drainage ditches, hedge lines, ceramic land drains and plough marks. Aside from two prehistoric flint fragments recovered from the fill of one of the recent features, no other remains/finds of archaeological significance were recovered. There was also evidence for recent made ground within the site. No further archaeological work was recommended. [Au(adp)] |
